Luckey's Woodsman

Luckey’s Woodsman is a Central Oregon hospitality brand rooted in the outdoors, built to bridge the gap between adventure culture and chef-driven food. Inspired by the original Luckey’s Woodsman family restaurant founded in Oregon in 1956, the modern business has grown from an off-grid provisions concept into a Sisters-based operation centered around Trailside Kitchen, camper kits, commercial food provisions for outdoor professionals, catering, and curated dining events. With a style the brand describes as “forage to fork,” Luckey’s Woodsman blends seasonal, local, organic, and foraged ingredients with bushcraft influence, elevated comfort food, and a strong sense of place. What sets Luckey’s Woodsman apart is its ability to move fluidly between restaurant service, mobile dining, outdoor meal solutions, and special event experiences. In addition to its Sisters location, the business has built a reputation around ready-to-enjoy camper kits, food truck service, and immersive “Memorable Moments” dinners, including multi-course pairing events with local partners around the area. Conservation is also part of the brand identity, with Luckey’s Woodsman stating that environmental stewardship is core to its mission and that it donates 1% of total sales to Forest Service and land and water conservation groups.

The Owner/Manager

Jackson Higdon

Jackson “Rooster” Higdon is a Bend, Oregon native shaped by Central Oregon’s culinary scene and educated the hard way — through nicked digits, sizzled forearms, and years in high-volume kitchens. After helping open 10 Barrel’s original pub, spending six years at Crux Fermentation Project as its first employee and eventual Executive Chef, building out the food program for 21st Amendment Brewery’s tasting room in San Leandro, and leading Riff Cold Brewed Coffee’s taproom as Head Chef and GM, he launched Luckey’s Woodsman as an off-grid provisions concept built to bridge outdoor recreation and professional food service. He has since grown the brand from a food cart into Luckey’s Woodsman Trailside Kitchen in Sisters, while developing camper kits, commercial provisions for outdoor professionals, curated pairing dinners, and forage-to-table experiences that reflect his deep connection to Central Oregon’s wild places. By 2025, Luckey’s Woodsman had reached the five-year mark, and through the business Higdon had also woven conservation and community work into the brand, including a pledge of 1% of sales to land and water conservation groups and partnerships supporting local causes and events.
